Sports Houses
As soon as we start at Clarendon, we are placed in a sports house. (Gittins, Ketchen, Hunter are named after former Principals at Clarendon)
Please tell the class teacher if a member of the family is an old girl who belonged to a particular house so that we can continue the family tradition.
Swimming
We all have swimming during school time in the summer months and it is one of our favourite lessons! We enjoy it so much because the pool is heated and we just want to stay in the water all day! We have a specialist swimming teacher that comes into the pool with us and shows us how to be safe in the water and swim like fish!
Grade 00 and Grade 0 girls can wear any swimming costume and then Grades 1-3 wear the green school costume. Your daughter must wear a swimming cap otherwise she won’t be allowed to swim. It may be a good idea to wait until you know which “sports house” your daughter will be in before buying a cap so she can wear the correct colour.
Playball
Playball is such fun and it is only for the Pre-Primary girls. Each class has Playball once a week during the school day and this is where we learn to improve all aspects of movement and space.
Physical Education
Our class teacher takes us for Phys Ed. which we have all year-round. These lessons teach us why it is important to exercise and stay healthy. It also teaches us to enjoy moving our bodies and develop skills that can be used for hockey, netball and tennis. Some classes have even learnt Scottish dancing and have had aerobics sessions!
We must wear the correct sport uniform on the day we have Phys Ed during school.
